This was made last summer when I went to visit my sewing friend, Niener, in MS. She made one for her granddaughter, and I made one for Shelby (who was just a few weeks old at the time.) She finally grew into and out of it, but I wanted to show it off.

I can't believe she has grown so fast and is trying to walk!

OH I LOVE the way that ric-rac is sewn just on the tips making a see through area on the dress. That's adorable.

Great outfit and such a cute "super model." The rick rack adds so much to it yet ties into the overall look. What a nice idea. Yes, it is amazing how fast they grow.

I have never heard or seen a "pillowcase" dress before. Could you give instructions on how to make one. I love it and the baby girl is beautiful. Looking forward to the instructions!!!

Thank you all. My sweet grandbaby is nearly walking now. I wish I had more time to sew for her.
Becca, this is a link to a tutorial about pillowcase dresses. There are many different variations on the internet, and if you put in a search you will see.

The rickrack insert wasn't the easiest. I had seen one at a fabric shop, and a friend and I decided to try it. It was trial and error. She made a tutorial on another forum.

Awww she is adorable and so is the dress. I could see extending it on the bottom as a way to make it last longer if it still fit otherwise.. Very cute.

I love the dress and what a cute model. Thanks for the ups on the pattern. I have never seen a pillowcase dress before. Who would ever know, the trim adds just the right touch.
