Valentines day is coming, it will be here before you know it...now what to get or do for my hubby. I have a husband that buys for himself so he is one of those men that have almost everything. My children always ask "What do you get a man who has everything?" Anybody have any ideas, I can't make him anymore quilts (3) or embroider anymore of his shirts, he doesn't like pjs, got ideas, please let me know.

I'm in the same boat. I usually end up telling my hubby to go buy himself something. So not romantic! I'll think some more on it and let you know if I come up with anything.

For the man that has everything or buys it if he even thinks he does, gift cards for the stores he likes to shop at are the best bet. ;) Then he can just go buy what he's going to anyway.

Could you do a pillow or pillowcase that says "tonight" on one side and "not tonight" on the other? Or some variation on that theme? ;)

I love the pillow case idea. How funny!

Well, he still has four giftcards for Christmas...now the pillowcase thing sounds just real cool, actually it will be something he would get a chuckle out of. Now;) must put the perfect design on them first...thanks ladies, I'm still painting the living room and hallway, just thinking ahead (and my husband thinks I can't multi-task...I'll let him think that anyway).
Man, the more I paint, the more rooms I find that need to be painted (the guest room, the guest bathroom, the offfice, the front and back foyers, etc) I think that will be enough, after that I don't believe I have anymore to (oops, thought too soon, the ceilings - I'm changing them from white to eggshell). Oh well it will be the 5:00 am embroidery mornings, at least the phone doesn't ring. Will visit again tomorrow before the day begins.

Maybe he's waiting until he has more gift cards so he can get something really big.

How would he feel about a non-embroidered family portrait?

That is very creative.....I like that a lot!

More great ideas, the gift card deal with lots of them may be great since my husband is one of the people that think "Bigger is better and you must have the right tool for the right job!" I love it, I am a lucky gal to have a guy like that.

That's the way my husband and I both are. He actually was converted to that thinking from me.........unless it was about computer things since that's his profession. Computer stuff he always got top of the line stuff. But for tools and stuff, he was happy with whatever and yet I would have to talk him into getting the better item because it should last much longer and has more features usually. Now that's the way he thinks too but that's usually good if you can afford it.
I bet your husband is saving them for something big he's got his eye on.

Well ladies my Valentines Day gift ideas were great and I will use the ideas as I can. My husband gave us a Valentines gift that I wasn't expecting...5 days/4 nights in Key West. We try to get there at least once every couple of years. I live halfway down Florida on the east side and it still takes eight hours drive time from here. This state is a long state, three hours across and 11 hours long. So excited...now to loose some weight, healthy and quickly, must get in some exercise too! Life is too short to be so busy.
Take care

Oooooh! You could put together a gift basket for the two of you while you are down there. Maybe some new lingerie for you and some massage oils. Maybe call ahead to a restaurant down there and plan a treat for him. You lucky dog! Enjoy your trip!

Oooooooooh lucky you! Key West; how fun.
How about a special set of pillowcases secretly stashed in your luggage? What a nice surprise that could be.

Here it is almost time for me to go to KW (we leave the 1st and back on the 5th because of a conflict in hubby's work schedule) and I only lost 4 pounds, guess I won't get into those size 4 skirts after all. Well -an inch is still an inch on anybody's tape measure.

Don't beat yourself up about that though. Go and have fun. He loves you no matter what, or at least I'd hope he does. ;) Have lots of fun. Think of me in the -19 temps up here in IL K?

AHHHH, Key West. I'm still trying to get there. What a great gift for the both of you. I like the gift basket idea..load it up with lots of goodies that you both like.
It would be so nice to have a hubby who actually remembers Valentine's day. Guess I shouldn't complain, though. He almost always remembers my birthday and our anniversary.:dontknow: :dontknow:

I got a real special guy, he shops for me all the time (actually his taste is beter than mine sometimes). My guy is the greatest guy I know, even my Mom & daughter say so, so it must be true.

Hi everyone, today we are off to the Keys:driver: so I wanted to thank everyone for the gift ideas. I did a set of pillow cases and a nice wine basket with lots of goodies, got one of those air brush tans (what an experience but a nice tropical look)(Dolly Parton says "It takes a lot to look this trashy!"). :nurse: Got on the scales and in six weeks I did loose 11 lbs , I can fit in my skirts just a little snug (my hubby says he likes the snug trashy look for holiday fun) ;) so I guess I got there after all. I have booked a kayak trip (we always do canoes) so this is a first.:afraid: The weather is going to be 77 or so days and 70 nights, I will think of all of you in the north and try to send it your way. :musicus: Be back next Wednesday to post again, got to go....

Too funny about the snug trashy look for the holidays. :D Have lots of fun. Yea, I almost believe you're going to be thinking of us up here where we are being dumped on with snow almost daily and if not snow, ice. HA. You may think of us but it will be about two seconds and at that time it will more than likely be a snicker. LOL

Rosebud,
I've also been married a while 29 years. We don't do alot for Valentives day, maybe a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store, but I figure.........I don't need candy, can't afford roses( that will die in a few days), and DH shows me he loves me EVERY day.
I am truly blessed. Enjoy yours I know he loves you alot.

lucky lucky you ...going to key west! I was there once and enjoyed it...but need to go back and do it right.
I went to key west on a camping excursion when I was a freshman in college. (again...can't believe my parents let me do that) It was self funded...hense the camping. It was way too tight of a budget and I was worried about running out of money the whole time. I think I made it home...driving from FL to OH with only 5$ left for food. SO maybe it was a good budgeting lesson....but oh so many things could have gone way wrong.

I know he loves me. She shows me in many ways. I saw this really cute Hallmark commercial on tv tonight. It shows this little stuffed dog that says "hug me" or something like that. I think Mike is getting one of those for Valentines day.

:hello: Hi, I'm back,
We had a wonderful time, and yes ladies ,I thought of you often. Actually, I missed my daily dosage of you all.
The weather was wonderful, strolls down Duval street (a mini Bourbon Street only not quite so trashy).) Moonlight sails with wine and very nice breezes on board the tall ships. A suite overlooking the ocean at Mallory Square, nice...
Going for Keylime pie late at night, taking lots of pictures. A great kayak trip ( I pick up a sea cucumber just in time for him to pee all over me:( ,) but still it was fun (boy, do I have to get in shape).
The pillow cases were a hit, he wants more made for our bed.... One night after the sunset at Mallory square we sat along the walk and had a picnic. We drank our wine from crystal goblets, sitting on a blanket I had made with matching napkins. We had 2 different kinds of chicken salad, Ritz crackers, three kinds of cheese, grapes, mangos, and apples with caramel, and of course key lime pie for desert. We ate off crystal plates and fancy silverware. I had two bottles of wine chilled in a small wooden footlocker. and a matching one for the dishes and things, the another one with an ice chest inside for the food. My husband wasn't sure what I was doing when I ask him to carry them to the spot I chose. He said it was the perfect ending to a wonderful holiday..... That's all folks!!
It was almost the perfect trip (We got stuck in traffic trying to get to the keys for superbowl Sunday, sat there for 2 1/2 hours one time and 45 minutes another). Total drive time should have been a little over 7 1/2 hours...total drive time 11 hours 38 minutes, needless to say we made the best of it, we planned exactly where to start remodeling the house and when, so it was a good thing.:D

What an incredibly romantic trip! It sounds as if you got some great R & R even if you couldn't get your message board fix!:p Maybe I'll let my husband hear about some of this and how romantic it was so that I can have a trip south sometime soon. Thanks for sharing with us!

Glad you are back and had a wonderful "romantic" time. Isn't it great just to get away. The picnic with the crystal makes it sound so special. Sorry to hear about the traffic.

Wow! How romantic. I'm glad you had such a great time. I'm totally jealous of that trip. Too bad some memory of the trip includes that trip home. BUT, that will be another memory to add to the trip which you will always remember too so that's not all bad either. ;)

I think a pillowcase that has not tonight on both sides would be very funny. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
