Interesting percentages after I voted just now. Even split with all having any votes sitting at 25%.

Anyway, I returned to sewing and was lucky enough to get an embroidery machine about 3 yrs ago now. I just love being able to make so many neat things. I love that we have so many talented digitizers that share so freely with us in giving samples/freebies/gifts, whatever they each call them

How cool. I'm in IL, but we come to Holland a few times a year. Our favorite hotel is in GR though so that's where we stay. :D My husband was born and raised in Holland.

I've had my machine about 5 years but I was a wanna be and a drooler for about 5 before that - thankfully the machines just keep getting better & so do the prices.

Do any of you digitize? I know enough to know that digitizing requires the patience of a saint. I look at the designs on this site and wonder how the heck? So intricate!

I WANT to digitize. I have embird and yet, I cant seem to figure out what I am suppose to be doing. Guess I need to take the time to read up on it and figure it out one day.

I have actually been sewing for 4 years and embroidering and quilting for 3. I teach classes on all 3, and I consider myself lucky to have found my niche in life earlier rather than later. If I don't sew or embroider something every day, I get grumpy! ;)

I have done some digitizing and it does take patience. It is always worth it in the end though. I just did a bunch of shirts for my nephew's fall baseball team. I took their logo and digitized it and made him a shirt. As soon as all the parents saw it, they all wanted one! It was fun and I'm very proud to see them all wearning them to the games!

Have you seen these? He's got some sample videos you can watch but don't get excited as they don't give anything away but his price for the entire set I think is really good. I am going to buy these for myself when I can afford Embird. Click here (http://www.cigarcityarts.com/videos.html)

It just amazes me how much the embroidery industry has changed since I got my Janome 8000. I can not believe how it has taken off and grown, but I am glad. Can you imagine 10 years from now what we might be able to do.

I think I became interested when I bought a new Janome3000 sewing machine, and the dealer was demonstrating an embroidery machine. It just took my eye.

I started saving my money from workshops and extra things until I had enough to pay for half the machine. That convinced my hubby how badly I wanted one. I bought the Babylock Esante, then traded for the Ellegeo, and now I have a Janome 11000. My best friend has the Ellegeo.

It's so much fun and a stress reliever for me. I have no desire to digitize.

Hello Out There!
This is my first time visiting this site. I am overwhelmed with all the new things to learn on my Husqv. 950 E. I'm looking for d cards.
My first project was making lap top covers with business name on them. That was easy.
I will visit often.

It will be a year in December. What advise does anyone have for the newbies? I can not find many resources in my area- and most chain stores, only want to tell you about their product. Any "secrets/ tidbits" welcome here!

I am glad to be a part of a message board with people that are as crazy about embroidery as I am.

I got my machine 3 years ago as I wanted to make my DD a quilt for her 1st birthday. My old Brother machine broke in the middle of making it so my husband said....go buy you a new, good machine. I took him to a sewing center and walking in he said...go ahead and buy the best on in here.... I had to pick him up off the floor when he found out how much they were!!! Needless to say I didn't get the best one there...I did get a Babylock Ellure though!! Ever since then I have been hooked on embroidery!!

I have had my embroidery machine for about 5 years. I got it just after my daughter was born. I wish I had more time to use it. I though that when she went to school I would have more time, but it is more hectic than ever now. Somehow this does not stop me from purchasing designs!!!!!!

I'm assuming the question means hooped embroidery, not the embroidery stitches on our machines? I have been doing embroidery since 1998 and have learned so much over the years. My son still pulls on an old shirt that I did for him that first year, when I didn't know about not stretching a knit shirt drum tight! You can imagine how wrinkled it is around the embroidery. I can't get him to throw it away though.

Hey Gang!

I've been embroidering for about 11 years now and I just get more and more excited about it all the time! I still have not gotten a digitizing program, so the only designs I've digitized have been done on my Janome Customizer programs. They come out okay, but I would love to be able to make designs as fantastic as the ones on this site.

Isn't it amazing how your whole perspective changes once you start embroidering. Now when you are out shopping you look at things and think 'hmmm, what can I embroider on that?' Or, 'how can I fit that in my embroidery hoop?'

What I love is when my kids come up to me and ask me to embroider things for them. Especially my 18 year old! He outgrew all the old Pokemon designs a long time ago, so I haven't embroidered for him in a long time. It's been nice having him ask me to do things for him.

I do a lot of my own digitizing. I love the challenge and even after almost ten years, it still amazes me as I sit at the embroidery machine and watch it stitch out something I digitized! It is a lot of fun to do.

I started embroidering when my little one was born. It gave me something to do when he would not sleep all night. We would go into the sewing room and close the door and I would rock him and the sewing machine would embroider.
