I have just bought 4 design sets in the last 24 hours. I guess adding another set won't make a difference! I live for these designs! My whole embroidery world is set around what designs I am getting here. There is such a variety in the sorts of designs. It is easy to find something to fit the occasion! I think everyone is ready for these new designs, Jami! Bring it on!:)

What did you use them on? Have you taken any pictures so we can see? I haven't bought that set yet.

would love to see some projects you've done with them. They are so cute.
I think I may do the heart as my first attempt at making a project from a downloaded design. I know I'm way behind the ball, but better late than never!

I'm sure you'll do fine. I actually prefer stitching designs that I've downloaded from reputable digitizers. Good luck and let us see the results!

I am new at machine embroidery and I downloaded a design that was too advanced for me. It is a beautiful design but it Had 15 color changes it is a nice design but to advanced fro right now. So I have tucked it away Having said that I have found until I learn what I am doing I should stick to much easier designs.

Go for it! You can do it. What do you think you're going to do? Have you had anyone teaching you the proper stabilizers to use and all that stuff? I'd hate to see you get discouraged if it doesn't turn out right.

Don't let the numerous color changes discourage you. Seriously, other than taking much more time to finish the design, one color change is the same as one hundred.

I agree with VickiT, changing the colors just adds a few more minutes. I did the heart download just to check it out. I did it on a hankerchief. (yes, my DD still believes in them). I wanted to stich it out to see if I could make a lace hankie for my future DIL. Wedding is March 1st. The design was beautiful. Now just need to get used to inputting words.

What software do you have? I just kept playing with mine and figured it out on my own how to do lettering/words considering I kinda knew more than my Viking dealer on much of my program after playing for a week with it. LOL

I don't use any software yet. Just download it into the machine, edit and make alot of attempts at having fun. Is there a software that you recommend. I have a Janome 350E. This is a new machine for me. I'm just a beginner.

Please tell me that you are downloading the designs you find online to your computer and first running a virus scan on them before opening and sending them to your machine? You don't want to get any viruses. I'm not concerned about this site but if you are downloading from yahoo groups for sure watch out. You definitaly want to run virus scans on anything you are downloading.
I don't know anything about the Janome machines personally but someone here may have that one to know how to point you in the right direction. I do know that many, many people do recommend Embird. You can buy just small parts of that program from beginning all the way to advanced where you can actually create your own designs. You may want to check into that one but it's not free. You can download a trial of the program that gives you 30 days to use it.
Hopefully someone else will be able to help you more than I can.

VickiT,
you are always looking out for me. I always download to my laptop first, run the scan and then save on a memory stick. I've only downloaded from this site. Don't trust things on ebay or alot of other sites. I will look into Embird. thanks for the advice. I also signed up for a workshop, at the one and only quilt store in the area, using the Janome machines for embroidery. I think this will help.

I just don't want anything to happen to your computer or any files you download. I know I don't worry about things from this site, but yea, you can never tell which ones to stay away from.
I'm sure you will love the workshop.

I can speak to Janome. I have the upgraded 10000, and I have used Embird from the start. It's very easy to learn and use the basics, and you can get as complex as you want. The program allows for editing designs (please check the digitizer's copyright information first, though), adding text, resizing, merging designs, and so much more. Color changes can be made in the software so the final product can be visualized. I also organize my designs within the program so that all my "sewing stuff" is in one place. There are many tutorials right on the embird website, and there are several Yahoo groups for additional help.
In my opinion, you can't go wrong. Let me know if you have specific questions. I'd be more than happy to try to answer.

YAY! I knew someone would be here that could help her start loving her machine and this addictive hobby. You can get her help figuring it all out and she'll be stitching up a storm and posting pics for us to drool over before you know it.

nanamcd and vickit,
thanks so much for the advise. I went to their website this afternoon. I need to download it to my desktop at home as my laptop and work computer are both Windows Vista and the website said there are a few glitches they are working out. I find that with alot of things and Vista. I'm working on making "wedding hankies" for my sons wedding. I'll post some hopefully in the next few days. I'm using the valentine heart from the embroidables downloads. It stiches out beautifully.:congrats:
