Corinne got a play kitchen for her third birthday in November. I found a pattern online and my FIL built it. (He started dabbling in woodworking a few years ago and has become quite proficient. I'll post pics below for those interested in seeing it.)

With all the crazy recalls with Made in China toys and lead, I've been researching felt food... and here are my first tortellini (cooking on DD's stove, of course)! :D

And here's the kitchen:

Off to go make some more pasta! ;)

Heather - love those tortellini's!!!

What a cute little kitchen set. Makes me want one to play with..:hahaha:
I'm sure it's much easier to clean.

I want those for me! that set is sooo sweet! The tortellini look good enough to eat. Your fil did good work for just having started woodworking.

Oh, it's a pain to clean up in other ways.... I should post pics now that we have all the plates, bowls, cups, silverware, wood food, etc in it! ;)

Just teachin'..i have to say when the screen popped up and i saw "food" in a pan, i was wondering if i was on the right message boards(even though i saw the thread title, it somehow wasn't registering!) That looks so real, good enough to eat! Very impressive!

That is such a cute kitchen set. You are so smart to make the food for her instead of taking a chance on the plastic stuff! Great ideas!

Did you MAKE those?! Whoa, girl, you are so putting me to shame. Pattern? Gotta stop holding out on me, here ;)

Yep. Found some great heathered green wool blend felt this morning at JoAnn's to make spinach ones, too! :D

Also have completed one raspberry. They're more time consuming! ;)

Oh, heck. I was just thinking how a nice bowl of felt raspberries would make me feel so much better this afternoon ;)

 Now this is my kind of food, light on the pounds, but delicious to the sight!!! Goody, goody! as my granddaughter says. I need some info on this stuff, never seen the non-food food before, where do I get patterns or where do I go for more information?
The furniture is awesome, it is much better than what you can buy out of partical board. What I mean is "It is totally awesome!!!"

Ditto the question on patterns. And tell us more about the felt. Can it be just any old felt?

Once you get this down pat you can move on to the murigurami crochet (I know I butchered that...can't remember...)

Unbelievable! I teach art, and we do some soft sculpture once a year. I nearly pull all my hair out when I give those students needles and thread! I love your food sculptures...I'm already thinking of how cool it would be to have my kids deisgn a pop art food plate with these.

The felted food is awesome! I have been eyeing some knit patterns for toys, but making them from felt would be so much faster. Duh! :)

OK, I've now seen the real deal. These things are so doggone cute, and I'm told they're not at all difficult.

In addition to tortellini and raspberries, DD has done a shrimp (for her shrimp lovin' DD), blueberries, farfalle, ravioli, noodles, whipped topping, and even whipped topping with a cherry on top. Toooooo adorable, and will the little one have fun.

I think these might be a fun break from the sewing room, maybe to hand stitch while watching a can't-miss TV program.

I'm having so much fun with this! I just hand sew sitting next to my Janome.... ;)

They are absolutely adorable. I was going to ask where to get the patterns, but when do I have time anyway?
Besides my girls are way way past the age of play food. They're doing the real thing. I do make them clean up their mess in the kitchen though.
But being an elementary teacher always makes me want to do stuff like that though. Your felt food look so fun and out of the ordinary.

Okay i just saw your slide show and all i've got to say is WOW! Those look so much better then the plastic food my kids used to play with. Kudos on the play kitchen as well.

These are so cute and I know my niece would love them. She is always pretending to take our meal orders and then tells us "Sorry, we just sold out of that, you have to have oatmeal."

 Oatmeal! That's precious!!

Here are a few more pics... the pancakes are one of the patterns, the cookies and the eggs are just my freehand ones....

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m219/musictchr1/felt%20food/IMG_6994.jpg

The circle and the heart have their frosting attached, and then I thought that it'd be better for the frosting to be separate... I mean, we don't bake our cookies frosted, now, do we? And since the felt is "sticky" enough to hold on, I started doing the frosting separate:

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m219/musictchr1/felt%20food/IMG_6998.jpg

You'll have to forgive the psychedelic yellow frosting... ;) I have a softer yellow wool blend on it's way...

Again, pardon the *BRIGHT* yellow butter!

I actually just saw that cupcake not too long ago... that ripply frosting is something I'm thinking I'd like to try. I figure it's just a basting stitch pulled tight, and I did that on an apron recently (thanks, Mom, for the help on that!), so I think I could do that! Too cute!!

See?! I told you sewing was easy and fun, and SO very rewarding :D Now that you're hooked, I guess we can plan on you stitching Corinne's wedding gown and bridal party dresses, eh? Woo hoooo!!

Wow - I never thought of giving handmade food during this time of "I don't know which toy to buy that hasn't been recalled" era. I spent hours looking at labels trying to buy a Christmas gift for a co-worker's one year old. How awful I would feel if I had even inadvertently given the little guy a bad toy. Now, I have ideas for next year.

Your work is AMAZING!!! Are there patterns?? All I can say is WOW!! I am so impressed!!! And the kitchen set is one of the best I've ever seen ~ what a very lucky little girl. She will never what to come out for nap time/lunch or anything else! ;) I know I wouldn't if I was her!

Great job on the play food. I don't think I could handle doing the cupcake. The rest of the food looks like it would be a "piece of cake" to make. lol

Oh, I'm just now seeing the cookies, pancakes, eggs and the other cute felt food and it's so cute! I wish I would have seen it a few months ago when I was making little fabric foods for a cloth book I made. Those are so much cuter than what I made! Ideas for future projects....

Wow, I know this is an old thread revived, but I would have the same questions on patterns. My daughter has a play kitchen set that I am making chef outfits and table cloths for AS SOON AS I can sew since I am down with the foot...can only surf the net right now with my food up next to my ear.
