Let me preface this by saying I do not have an oven to give away nor am I trying to sell you a raffle ticket....but....

I am trying to get some feedback on IF there were a raffle would you be interested in buying a ticket for an oven?

I work at school doing a lot of fundraising. Last year we raffled off a large screen plasma tv. It went very well. Guys especially will go for the large electronic items. I started thinking about what women would like to win. I recently bought a new oven for my home (notice I did not say for myself). I think that most everyone does not buy a new oven unless they are doing a major overhaul of the entire kitchen, or if the original one dies. I think that PEOPLE (trying not to be sexist now) would like a chance to win a new oven so they don't have to wait until it is a necessity.

Any comments appreciated...or just vote.

I think I would be more likely to buy a ticket for a TV than an oven. I would LOVE a new oven. But, I don't have a standard size oven. So, I would have to make the selection myself (I couldn't go with the one at the raffle). I say go for another TV. Everyone that bought a ticket last year...except the winner... will buy one again this year.

To clarify, the oven raffle would be in addition to the tv raffle. Kind of a his and hers......and again sexist.

Well, yes I defintely would buy a chance! We bought our house two years ago and it has a contractor grade oven in it. I swore I wouldn't buy another one until this one breaks down. I am patiently waiting for that day! Now where do you live? Do they deliver?:D

I'd consider a freezer if you're thinking about a kitchen-y type appliance. We LOVE having a spare freezer in the basement. And for people without basement space, the garage is a possible storage space as well.... Just food for thought.

Oh! I like the freezer idea, too. I would buy a ticket for a freezer.

Yes, I would buy a ticket for a new oven but I think you'd sell even more if it were a 6 quart professional Kitchen Aid mixer. They cost about the same price depending on the options the stove would have. Or even a combo prize of 6 quart professional Kitchen Aid mixer AND a Kitchen Aid food processor. ;) You'd sell tons of tickets.

Yes, I would buy a ticket for a new oven even though my husband does most of the cooking now. Hey, after 25 years of marriage I figure it's his turn now!!!

What? And give up my 1980's almond version that bakes unevenly and has one burner that works when it wants. No way. It would take all the surprise out of my cakes. Heehee...
