:star: :star: Once in awhile we google around the net and happen upon a fantastic site and that's what has happened to me finding embroidables.com. I am a commercial embroider but that doesn't stop at the business site as I'm a grandma as well and love doing specialty items for my babies and many customers ask for a special item as well. Commercial embroidery is a drag, doing the same business logo over and over but it does pay the bills! The fun side is the customer who has a special shirt for their child. This is where embroiderables.com will come in handy. I have ordered a few designs but look forward to adding many many more! Thanks for the great web site- I am totally impressed!

Very sneaky ;)
Seems like there are a lot of seamstress on this board who are also teachers or work with a school in another way.
I am so thankful to be a part of this group!
I just had carpel tunnel surgery, so my crafting is on hold for the now, at least 2 months or so (No cutting or hooping allowed). I live vicariously through all of you that are sharing your projects. Everyone is so talented- it really gives me some great ideas!
Thanks so much.
It keeps me motivated to following Dr.'s orders, so I can get back to crafting sooner rather than later.

But really, I don't think we need excuses. Honest this message board has been very uplifting for me. I think windwillow said it best it's "inspirational".
None of my "real-time" friends sew a great deal. I have a great time reading the posts, seeing the projects, and having discussions with people who are as "into" embroidery as much as I am.

I'm pretty sure my husband is thrilled I have the message board to chat with others since I don't get out of the house very often anymore now that we're down to one car. I'm very lucky that he supports and actually downright spoils me in allowing anything I say I need, even if it's more a want than need BUT, as loving as he is and supportive, I'm sure he gets tired of hearing embroidery this and that once in awhile and just wants to watch his sports. LOL

VickiT,
Hopefully it won't be long before you get a 2nd car again. One thing about it, you are not out in the slush and stuff running errands, instead you are at home, nice snug and warm, reading the threads and stitching till your heart is content.:bebored:
Smile and think how great it is not to have that 2nd vehicle yet...:)

My husband wants to talk knives and guns and I talk fabric and embroidery, I listen, he listens, the difference...he now listens to what I read about on the threads, he just smiles and says "That's great!" as he looks at his computer screen...Glad all of you are here, I stay at home alot so this is my window to the world of embroidery friends and fun. Thanks everyone!!

sewfaithfully said it perfectly, "none of my real-time friends sews a great deal." Being in south Florida, nobody really takes a great interest in "indoor sports." The weather is so beautiful, they don't want to be inside. I just open all the blinds, turn my mahine to see outside and enjoy the best of both worlds.

I'm not too concerned about the lack of his car. It's sitting in the yard waiting for the day he'll decide to call and have it towed to the shop. It needs a new transmission which isn't much fun. We just don't have the $1500+ laying around to fix it ya know. There's been times that I wish I had my car back, but most of the time when his was running mine sat in the garage just in case I needed/wanted to go out somewhere during the day. It's a bit like having tums sitting in the medicine cabinet ~ they are there when you need them but you don't really care unless you need them for heartburn. :p If they aren't there when you do need them, then it bugs you, otherwise, eh, no big deal.

Good point, I have a jeep that gets driven once a month or so when I want to go somewhere without my husband. If I didn't have it then I would constantly want to go. It was like that after my foot surgery last year, I wanted to go anywhere but I couldn't walk so I had to stay home and think about how great it would have been to get out. But I got a lot of mending, crocheting, embroidery, and cross stitch done.

Exactly! With my knees being so bad and things being so icy slick it's not safe for me to go out without hubby going along so I can hold his arm anyway.
Sometimes I wish I had an excuse to NOT go somewhere, so I could stay home and work on my projects. :-)

If I hadn't have looked at the post, I would have thought I posted this. I look for excuses to quilt, embroider, and get on the computer. I think I should retire, except we enjoy the simple things in life..........food, a house, you know, the essentials.

Okay Ladies, be careful for what you wish for (A quote from my Mom). I remember those days of wanting time off to do all the stuff I wanted to do. It is a wonderful thought but, yes here is the but part, some of us had to trade dearly for that time off...surgeries, bad knees, PD, etc. Ask any of us about the trade. I use to drive across country by myself, now I want to go see my mom (twelve hours drive time) now I have to wait until my hubby or best friend can help me drive. Now that a lot of us have the time-our bodies don't work quite the same. Yes we have more time but more time it takes to do thoses things we want to do...if I remember...
Enjoy the free time you have and enjoy that you are outside the home, the the small time to play is precious time, not just time to do things.

Windwillow is right. I am a teacher, and it seems like I always look forward to long breaks...Christmas holiday/ Easter Break/ etc. but when they get here I inevitably become bogged down with other things...usually major house cleaning that has been put on the back burner from being so busy with school... that I don't end up getting very much sewing done anyway. :(
"The grass is always greener" seems to come to mind. There is a verse Philippians 4:11 "for i have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content"....Boy is that a hard one to follow!

nah- the district froze our budget due to state cuts. Everyone is afraid to come by, then they see I'm in a good mood and are wondering what I'm up to. I just tell them I'm "doing research" on some purchases.
