Ah, I love stitching on clearance items!!

The first is a long-sleeved tee that's currently in the toddler section at Target. I thought that the horizontal stripes of the tee would play nicely with the vertical lines of the Ls in "silly" and the funky nature of the border around the hexagon. (These pics make the shirt look a tad purple-y-- it's actually a light aqua-y blue.)

And this'd be the "silly" who gets to wear that tee:

Then, last year I got this jumper on half-off clearance at Old Navy for $4. :D I chose the freebie from the new Valentine set because although it's Valentine-y, it's doesn't pigeon-hole the jumper into only being worn in February (though for $4, I wouldn't mind!). It's a dusty rose, so I used a more brick red and a dustier pink and green, and then a charcoal grey for the outline.

Having an embroidery machine is like performing magic! There is no such thing as plain anymore! I love how the colors play off the stripes in the shirt. I just love everything. Your little girl is so sweet. I like her curls!

It *is* like magic, isn't it?!

I bought that jumper with the intention to embroider on Mom's machine (I didn't have one at the time), and I went to Target to get something for the "silly" design, as I bought it in the last bonus period. When I saw the stripes, I knew instantly that I wanted it on that. (Of course, it'll go on something short sleeved this summer - likely in a pink/orange/yellow palatte to keep things interesting! ;) )

I love both your projects.

The pic with your little gal...I had that same frog fabric. I loved it.

She is adorable. She didn't get all of those curls cut off did she?

She LOVES that frog cape at the hairdresser's! No, she didn't lose all her curls. I'll cry if we trim and they go! :frown:

what a cute idea. Especially on anything that is on clearance. It's a good way to get a jump on holiday gifts for next year.

I love clearance items. I think that they are the first things I look for in a store..... Maybe I'm just cheap.

Those are cute. I also like to find the clearance items to embroider on - nothing better then finding a plain shirt for `$2 and turning it into something really cute.

Thanks for the inspiration. I always look at the clearance sections, but pass up things that are too plain just because they are cheap. Now, thanks to you, I can look at things as being inexpensive potentials -- and not pass them by.
