This is only my second attempt at quilting. The first was only a block.
The center is a tapestry piece I bought years, and years, and years ago. I always wanted to do something with it and didn't know what.
Then last year one of my students brought me the black paisley fabric. She said she bought a bundle of fabric at Goodwill, this was in the bunch, and she didn't like it , so she brought it to me. As soon as I saw it it reminded me of this tapestry piece and suddenly I knew what I was going to do!

The embroidered words are a font off one of my software.

Very nice work! I love it when a project comes together, even years later. I once had a writing instructor describe our writing ideas as stewing in a crockpot in the back of our minds, and then we open the lid and pull out a little of this and combine it with a little of that. Poof...there's the story! I don't think it's really that simple, but it was a neat concept. Your combination of tapestry and fabric reminded me of that.

Thanks!
I was so excited when I finally came up with a way to use that piece of tapestry. My crockpot was on a super low setting I guess. heehee

This is beautiful. I, too, am a beginning quilter and none of my projects warrant posting. I'll keep trying, though.

Sewfaithfully, I was going back through the threads to see what I missed. WOW, how did I miss this, it is very well done, nice points, well appointed. Now it makes me want to finish my son's quilt. Got to get myself in gear as soon as I get over the flu. Need to finish the quilt, must embroidery a cute newly wed couple matching shirts, one day I will do something for myself...one day but meanwhile I enjoy making for others.

Thank you Windwillow. Happy to inspire you!
If I look through my house... of all the different things I have made this quilted wall hanging is one of the few things I have made that I have kept. I love giving them away.

I hope you feel better soon.

That came together very nice! It's always nice to have a project done and I'm sure it will long be enjoyed. Quilts always take me years to complete! In fact, I've got a couple tops stashed in a bin that have been there for who knows how long! Congrats on finishing a beautiful work of art!

That quilt is beautiful! I am soo jealous of all of you that are able to quilt. My grandmother has always made us quilts growing up and we are driving down to see her in March. I hope to get her to show me some "baby steps" that could get me started into another way to display my embroidery!

Wow that is gorgeous! The tapestry piece was the perfect addition. Sometimes we find a fabric that we have to have but we just have to wait for inspiration.
