I told you all that you would see this fabric again. I made the aprons from these same Michael Miller fabrics, and my sister loved the colors and prints. She convinced me they would be perfect for baby things. I still working out how the bibs should be made and coordinated.

I love the trim. How super cute and the little extra adds so much.

Those are super cute. I do the fabrics on the bottom and sometimes back of the burp cloths myself but don't "finish" like you do with the ric rack and other things. I think I need to get some of the larger ric rack. That really does add much more to them.

I am so impressed with all of your projects! I get so many great ideas from you! That's how uncreative people like me get to be creative - by borrowing from the gifted ones. ;) The ricrack is my favorite part - too cute!

Where do you guys buy these cloth diapers - can you get them at a regular superstore like Walmart or Target? And how do they come packaged - individually or in sets?

I buy the set of pre-folded Gerber diapers from Wal-Mart. I've tried the single layer ones and then fold them myself, but they aren't near as absorbent.

Thanks artsiegirl - I'm going to get some of these - a girlfriend and a cousin just had babies and another girlfriend is 5 months along...these make such cute and thoughtful gifts! Do you know if anyone has posted a thread on how to make these?

Hey artsiegirl - We're not far from eachother - Tifton is just an hour or two south of Warner Robins - in fact, I used to play in softball tournaments there all the time in high school! Haven't seen any other fellow Georgians on here though...

Yeah, we actually have some family fairly close to Warner Robins. I haven't found any other Georgians here either. Godd to know there's someone close by!:)

I did find some other threads wth info on how each individual makes their burp cloths. I have no idea how to link to them though. Look at the top of this page in the pink frame and click on the word search. I typed in burp cloths and just read several of the threads. Each person has their own way of doing these. I just measure my accent fabric slightly wider than the width of the diaper and then I wrap it from front to back however long I want it to be. I stitch around the sides and top of the fabric and add whatever trims I choose. You could also use a decorative stitch from your machine around the edges. Good luck!

You know I've been looking for the search function since I joined the message boards and I never noticed that link?!?! I must be blind! Thanks for the instructions - sounds really easy to do, so I should be good to go!

Hey Artsiegirl & stitchcrazy-don't forget about me in 'Bama. I'm in Alabaster, AL right outside of B'ham. We practically neighbors. I have family in Acworth, GA and friends in Lilburn, GA...anyway, LOVE the Michael Miller fabrics you used on these burps! I just love how you did the name, too!

Emily,

We haven't forgotten about you! I have some college friends from Acworth as well and I bought my wedding dress in Lilburn! ;) I also have a girlfriend in Birmingham. Small world...we're all connected somehow, right? ;)

No, we'd never forget our neighbors to the west! There are several of you Alabama folks on here. I just recently visited Birmingham for a children's writers conference. It's a lovely city. Besides you all have two of my favorite personalities in Alabama...I love Rick & Bubba. I listen to them every morning on the radio and get my laugh fix in before I head to work!:p

I'm in the Rick & Bubba Army, as well! LOVE THEM!!! www.rickandbubba.com
I go to church with Speedy & his family, and Kevin Derryberry is our Praise & Worship leader! Talk about gettin' a blessing on Sunday mornings! :)

And you're right....it's such a small world. I love Georgia, too. Lots of fond memories of college roadtrips to Athens, GA or to Hot'lanta to go out or see concerts. I went to Jacksonville State University and there were just about as many students there from Georgia as there was from Alabama.

Stichcrazy, it's such a small world isn't it!

Are you all going to the sewing expo next weekend in Atlanta after all? I sure would love to go, but this weekend is Cottontails Arts & Crafts Expo so what little spare change I have will get spent tomorrow....it's actually burning a hole in my pocket. I can't wait to report back on any new cute ideas that I come away with.

Unfortunately, I have to go to an engagement party - I was so looking forward to going and taking some of the classes - I like to soak up any and all information I can get my hands on. I already told my husband that when they post the schedule for next year's expo, I'm putting it on my calendar and it's not budging! And I told him I was going for the entire 3 days! ;)

Did you all find the instructions you needed for burp cloths? I'm glad to see the 'search' function was found by a few of you now. :D Holler if you need any more help. Sending me a PM (or Dawn fun2sew) with a question is the fastest way to be sure we see it.

i make burp cloths with fabric such as this and i made a pattern for just a plain somewhat oblong bib. i use the fabric for the top half and then a half circle of chenille for the bottom of the bib. i usually embroider the name on the chenille...this fabric is great...would look nice with a white chenille.

Thanks so much for sharing these...they are gorgeous!!! I just bought that fabric yesterday, and I was struggling to find some ribbon or pom-poms to match it (almost impossible!) Now I know what I can add to make it just a little more special! Your monogram looks great!

That is really cute and different. I use almost that same bib pattern for all the ones I make too. I need to find a smaller one for newborns though because that one swims on a newborn. LOL

Welcome Marilyn! I made the first set of burp cloths on this post, but I can't tell you how good they look after being washed. My sister is expecting in May, so we haven't had to launder any of these yet. There are others on here that make these to sell and give away, maybe they can give us some insight!

Michael Miller fabrics always wash well from my experience. As for the cloth diaper, I think it's all in the quality or what it's made from. The majority of the ones I've had have washed beautifully. I see no reason that it wouldn't wash very well.
