I'm a newbie here, I love what I see on this site. I'm excited to learn and start creating wonderful projects. I just purchased my 1st embroidery machine, it is a Janome 350E. Is there anyone else that has the same machine that can tell me if the designs download easily and do I need any extra programs on my Janome to be able to download the designs? I keep reading about a digitizer but I'm not sure what it is???? Any help is appreciated. Sassystitcher

Welcome Sassystitcher,
I'm pretty new here also. I've had my Janome 350E for about 6 months, but just got into using it. I've downloaded a few of the embroidable designs. I save them to a memory stick. (just put them in the correct folder) I had to call David (at the phone number above) and he talked me right thru it. It was excellent. I have the customizer, just have to learn to use it. Everyone here is so helpful. I have a lesson from the store I purchased my machine at, I'll let you know how it goes. It seems we at least have something in common, (besides our machines). I live in S. FL, work as a school bookkeeper, married 28 years, 2 kids, (1 DD, 1 SIL, 1 DS, and 1 almost DIL). If you have questions, just ask.:)

Welcome Sassystitcher:dancing: We're so glad you've joined us. You'll find that these are some of the nicest, most helpful people you've ever chatted with. I don't have a Janome, but I can tell you that you don't really need anything extra to stitch these designs. Jami does the most wonderful job on her designs, and I find that they stitch up cleaner than any others I have. Oh let me tell you about their customer service...it's incredible (and I don't even work for them, nor am I paid to say that!):D You're going to have a blast with your machine.

I'm not sure if this will help with the thread, but I read that metalic thread should be standing upwards when it comes off the spool, this way it isn't stressed or tangled. Hope this helps. If not I know someone has the answer.:)

I can't help you with that machine, but I can say welcome to the board and that I hope you like it here as much as the rest of us. ;)

I would post that message under the main heading (http://www.embroidables.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2) (Embroidery Addicts) area of the board becauase it has to do with embroidery. If you post something that's in the wrong place you can let either Dawn or myself know by sending us a private message or even posting to that thread and we'll grab that and move it to the right place for you. Don't stress too much about posting in the right spot until you are used to the message board. Yes, we'd love to have them in the right places but we would rather you have fun here and enjoy it so if that means we move a post or two then so be it. ;) just have fun and don't be afraid to post. OK?
What fabric are you sewing on? Sometimes if you are using the metallic threads on something such as jeans or thicker, you want to use a sharps needle rather than a metallic. That sometimes works better.

I wanted to say thanks to craftmama & artsiegirl for your replies to my question. I do have a memorystick for my machine. I guess I need to just download a few things and start having fun. I have monogramed a few blankets but, that is all so far. I am looking forward to talking to you all and making new friends. Thanks again, Sassystitcher

Sassysticher,
If you download a couple of the free items, it will give you a bit of confidence. Everything stiches out beautifully.

I have the Janome 350e and I use Customizer 10000 plus and Monogram Wizard Plus. It took a little time to learn it, but it will come. You need to find the Yahoo group for our machine. You could do a search for it. They are alot of help with questions you might have.
I have had mine since June 1st and love it. I also asked a lot of questions to the lady at the sewing store where I bought my machine. :)

I don't know if I had a problem or not! My dh loaded everything for me. I also had bought a new laptop at the same time as when I purchased the machine. I have Vista on my laptop, too. I think there were problems where we might have had to get a patch. Not sure if it was with MW+ or with Customizer. Sorry!

Hello and welcome! I am very new to the message board here but I have been purchasing designs from embroidables for about a year now. I have loved how my Janome 300E has sewn them out! They just turn out beautiful! My favorite has been the crab. I put it on about everything. We live near the water so it fits our surroundings perfectly. Im not familiar with the 350E yet, but I have found that the customizer and monogram wizzard plus software are so helpful. I was interested in the digitizer at first, but have found that I don't really need it as much as I thought I would. The only time that I needed something digatized, my dealer did it for me for $5. I thought that was a bargain. Good luck and welcome!

I looked at the Janome 300E and the 350E when I first started looking. The dealer explained that one of the few differences between the two is that the 350E comes with the USB port. Thus making downloading a bit easier. I would love to see some of your projects.

How are you doing with the new machine? Have you gotten it all figured out so you have been able to make something yet? I remember how overwhelming it all was after I got my machine. Buying an embroidery machine is certainly different than it used to be where you'd buy a machine, take it home, pull it out of the box and sew. LOL Now it seems you have books to read, software to learn, and then understand all the new terminology that comes with embroidery and the stabilizers too. I hope you come back here and keep asking questions to help you have fun with your new machine. We have a wide variety of machines owned by all the members from what I can tell so there's always someone that can help.

Welcome to the message board too. I've wanted to buy digitizing software for a long time myself but have doubts that I would spend much time using it because there are so many great people like Jami that already create such awesome stuff. My husband on the other hand, wants to jump into the digitizing world and play in that sandbox. LOL

:hello: Hello Again Stitchingrandma, For the most part I have had a good time playing and creating new projects. There was 1 day I spent about 4 hours and got so frustrated I left my house, only to figure out I had threaded the machine wrong!!! I am careful not to make that mistake again. My machine embroiders beautifully. I'm very pleased. My husband & 3 adult boys sure don't like that I'm not waiting hand & foot on them anymore. :bawling: I on the other hand am having a great time.

Glad to see you are jumping right in. I found out that's what you have to do. I am attending a class this saturday, and I hope to get some questions answered. Did you get any additonal programs?

Welcome Kimmie,
You have found a great web site, the designs are wonderful, the people are great and no one is a stranger. Enjoy and if any problems arise I'm the first one to nominate the moderators, they are excellent. Vicki & Dawn, (REAL SMARTS), of course a lot of the ladies know a lot about the different machines, software, and designs.
