Wow! I'm amazed with each month it seems the entries are going to be harder to decide which I want to vote on. Already with this month, there are only three and I may have to use a coin and there's 7 more spots open to use. This is going to be tough. I just LOVE the burp cloth. TOO cute!

What cute entries and great ideas to get our creative juices flowing. What kind of burp cloths are the "All Boy" designs stitched on? I love making burpies but haven't seen any that look like those. Great entries everyone!

Those burp clothes are specially to paint or embroider, there is a place in it that the fabric is more full and you can do it!!Then the smalls ones I cut it , and after to sew it I do the croche. Here in Brazil we use a lot this smalls ones, more than the bigger!!I hope you understand me!!!Thank you for asking, if you need more informations you can write or ask!!

Luciana ~ Here we use thick diaper material for our burp cloths. Yours look more like a linen type material. Is that right?

Luciana

Yes it is!!!!
It is funny how to see the different material we have!

That's what I thought it looked like Luciana. I know I've seen many bibs and burps using linen but those are only used on special ocassions and usually done in the heirloom style of embroidery. Instead we use flannel or cloth diapers.

So so cute!
I'm thinking about doing something to enter, but I'm not sure I want to go up
against the ones already entered. They are super!

Luciana, I think you do very well with English. I learned French in school but would have a hard time wrtiing to someone in it. I have read on other posts where you have talked about Brazilian people being very friendly. I have been fortunate to have met and talked with several ladies from Brazil through our church. And I think you are right. Very friendly. You do a great job with the embroidery.

That is so sweet, Luciana! I think I will try to do something. I hope I will have the time before the ten spots are filled. I teach in a small Christian school. I only have 10 students but they are in 4 different grades. The helper I had just quit so I have a lot more work to do.

A few years ago I embroidered a crib sheet as a baby gift for the wife of one of our missionaries to Brazil. He was American (raised nearly his whole life in Brazil though) but she was a native Brazillian. Her name was Isabel. I put "Doce Sonhos" - Sweet Dreams - on it with an angel sitting on a cloud. I asked the husband how to write it in Portuguese. She liked it and it made me happy to do it for her. I hope to talk to you more later .

Love the Got Milk idea...but what are taggies used for? I haven't heard of them before. The cow looks so cute stitched in pink and black, it's fun to see what a new color combination does to a design.

StitchinGrandma
02-07-2008, 11:50 AM
Taggies are just little things for babies to play and hold onto. There are some shaped as a very small blanket and others shaped like a ball with the little "tags" sticking out of them, thus the name "taggies". It's a sensory thing with babies since you are using different ribbons where some may be smooth while others rough to the touch as in a grosgrain ribbon and usually the small blanket type things have one side out of satin making a smooth to the touch 'thing' for the babies to feel. Make sense?

Vicki did a good job describing the TAGGIES. These are easy to do.
Babies love the different type of ribbon, Velvet, satin, grossgrain.. ect.
The front is a fleece fabric and the back with a cow pattern flannel.
You can make them anysize you want, Monogram with a name too.
And I love the black and pink colors too! We found matching fabric makes it fun!

The black and pink together are great colors. I have some very cute fabric in pink and black with cats on it that I've used for baby burps too. I also love using pink and brown too myself.

I just love these contests. It gives all of us great ideas which sparks creativity. I love all these entries and it is going to be very hard to vote. I love the matching fabrics with the designs, the different materials used with the designs, the different color changes from the original colors, etc. Can't wait to see more entries. Applause to everyone!!!

oh these are terrific! i just love the idea of these contests. that they are held every month and limited to ten entries. makes it more of a "family" type thing.
cannot believe the creativity and love that they are shared so i (well we) can get ideas.
the reason i signed onto this board instead of all the other embroidery and quilt ones is because it seems more like nice people whom would be fun to sit around the living room with and drink tea in little brambly hedge teacups and laugh.
hope to enter some time, but accept with humbleness that mine will only be for the sake of being in! :) not a chance of winning! i think every month every entry is probably worthy of the top place. just subjective choices!
can't wait for the first of the months!

thanks!

This morning when I was looking at the entries, there was a quilt that had panda bears on it. The picture is no longer posted; but my daughter saw the quilt and had a question for the embroiderer. If you are the one who posted it this morning, could you private message me? Thanks,

The entries are all adorable! I'm going to have a hard time deciding who to vote for! Good Job!! --edgewood mom

Luciana ~ you're welcome.

Ok everyone, I've closed the contest up because we have all ten of our allotted entries this month. When Jami has a few minutes she'll be back to post the poll to begin our voting on this months entries. This will be VERY hard too this month. It's great to see we have new people entering too. Hopefully they stick around and like it here whether they win or not. I know Jami's busy though getting ready for the expo she's going to be attending very soon so we'll see if she's back tonight or maybe even later tonight after the kiddos are put to bed even.

Luciana-Today is my first day on this message board, but I'm so enjoying what I've read so far. Who would have known that I would be communicating with such a talented and kind spirited woman in a different country! How cool! I also think your English is great-you communicate very well.

Is it too late to enter something in the contest? I made a little A-line jumper for my little one to wear on Valentine's Day-it has the heart from "More Girly Stuff" on the front w/ her name under it. It turned out cute, even though she didn't actually wear it b/c I didn't have time to finish the pants. I'm determined to finish the pants to complete the set soon before she outgrows it. :) I have to locate the digital camera to take a picture & upload. I may have to do that tomorrow...I hear little feet upstairs & that's not good b/c I know I tucked the kids in already.

Yes, it is too late this month to enter the contest but not too late to vote so check those entries out and be sure to vote this month. You will find the contest info here (http://www.embroidables.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=21). Each month there is a contest which is posted near the beginning of the month and your entries must have only Embroidables designs on them and each contest is open to the first 10 entries and then closed until the following month. There are two threads created each month, one to post your entries and then another where anyone can discuss those that have entered that month where we can ask questions about how something was made or done.

Hopefully that answered that question for you. If not, feel free to ask and someone should be able to help you. Welcome to the message board. I'm sure you'll love it here as much as all of us.

Emily - the expo I was talking about is in Atlanta March 6-8. The web site is http://www.sewingexpo.com/cities/atlanta.htm. I was so hoping to go, but we are going to have to go out of town for an engagement party. I told my husband I was signing up for the whole 3 days next year! Looks like they're going to have some great classes - as a beginner I try to soak up every bit of knowledge that I can! Hope you get to go - looks like a lot of fun!

Kati-thanks so much for that info. on the Hot'lanta sewing expo. I'm sure going to try and make it. I would be fun. I'm pretty much a beginner, too even though I got my regular sewing machine 3 yrs ago. I got my Brother 270-D embroidery machine just to play with & to try to learn before investing in a nicer, but more expensive one. I really wish mine had a 5x7 hoop though...oh well. I'm grateful for what I do have. :)
