Love it! Did you have a pattern for the skirt or did you just "wing it"? If you had a pattern i would love to know which one it is!

That set is adorable! How cute. Did you do that to the socks to match or did you luck out and find those?

I make up the patterns for baby skirts as I go along. I'm not really good at using patterns and do better if I can look at something already sewn. Or I find a simple pattern and alter it to my own liking. Basically I just cut strips of fabric and sew them all together. I can give you measurements if you'd like.

I crocheted the beads on to the socks. So it's just about finding beads to match which isn't usually too hard. :)

Yea, the bead shopping would be the easy part considering I haven't done any crocheting since I was about 12 yrs old and haven't got a clue how anymore. :(

I hadn't crocheted for a long time either but a friend of mine was persistant in helping me remember. In fact, all I could ever do was a chain stitch and that's all you have to do on beady socks. I'll give simple instructions if anyone is interested.

Feel free to give the instructions on the chain stitch. I might remember once I see it and it certainly can't hurt since it might help others that would love to try. :D All I ever learned was the chain stitch myself because my Mom and I used to make necklaces with a bead every so often added on. It's probably going to be very close to the same thing with more beads being added. Thank you for offering.

Thank you for all of your nice comments.
These measurements are close approximations for the skirt. I always vary a little from each skirt I do. This is for a size 6-12 months and for the one shown.
Top black strip: 2 1/2" x 20". Second pink strip: 2 1/2" x 34. Third black strip: 2 1/2" x 39. Last pink strip: 2 1/2" x 44". I did this one so that each color is a ruffle and I used a rolled stitch on the bottom of each ruffle. So underneath each ruffle is white fabric cut the same size as each ruffle. I gather stitched each layer together. I used 3/8" elastic cut to 15-16". I'm not very good explaining all of this so ask if you need any clarification and I'll do my best.
As for the socks. I have no idea how to explain the chain stitch. If you figure out that then first you put all of your beads on the string that you are going to use on the sock in the order you want them on the sock. You don't need to cut off a certain amount of string, just string them on to the spool and you can cut it when you get to the end. Tie the end of the string on to the sock leaving a tail. You'll need to use a needle to do that. Start the chain stitch. On these socks I believe I did two chain stitches and then I put on 3 beads. Then two more chain stitches and then attach it to the sock (about 3 ribbings down from the start) with another chain stitch. When you get all the way around the cuff of the sock, cut the string and tie the end to the beginning string tail. I usually put a dab of hot glue on the knot to make sure it stays put. Hope that makes sense. I'll do a demo for you if you want to come on over! :D
This is absolutely adorable!!!

Love the outfit and the colors. Also thank you for the instructions. I am learning so much!!! My daughter and son-in-law find out if they are having a boy or girl in two weeks so I am printing these instructions off and saving them for future reference.

Thank you very much for your instructions. I am really into knitting lately, but I think I am going to try some of those socks for my DD next week when I am on vacation in FL. Keep up the GREAT work.

I am very blessed to have 10 grandchildren...........the only girls are 11 and 12, long past the little girl stage. Oh well, I never knew that little boys could be so much fun. I think I may get tired of skulls and snakes and lizards and........... Guess I'll have to find a little girl to sew for, just to get my fix. Terry

this is the cutest outfit, I love the colors. the socks with the beads is the perfect finishing touch. Once all your friends see your creation, they are all going to want one for their little girl.
I can't believe that I didn't see this before. The whole set is incredible.

Love anything Michael Miller - if anyone knows of any of the old fabric he had a couple of years ago and has been discontinued - let me know where to buy.
Thanks

If only I had so much talent. You ladies are just amazing with the talent you have. I am lucky if I can sew a button on. Embroidery is just about the only thing I can do and the machine does most of that for me. Beautiful set so cute.

Your outfit is just darling! I read your instructions on the sock and were you talking about crocheting the trim on the socks? I'm sorry but I'm a very visual learner and reading that I just didn't quite understand. Thanks so much and you did a beautiful job. Are there instructions on the internet anywhere?

The crocheting is just for the trim on the socks. And are you asking for instructions for beady socks on the internet? I'm sure you could find something.
