Since we've just had 2 babies born in the family within 2 weeks of each other, it looks like I'll be making some little girlie things for them. I also have some table linens to do for my MIL, a blanket for my cousin, some spa goodies for his wife...and Im sure I'll come up with something else for somebody. You know how it goes!
So let's hear what projects you're working on, maybe we can get inspired!

Hmmmm. I have some nice lingerie bags I hope to embroider if I can figure out how to hoop them. I like the idea of framing some of the Dolly Mama's so maybe a couple of them. I've got aspirations to do some of those reusable grocery bags. Heck, I'll be lucky if I get one gift made. But I always have good intentions! :)

HA...I hear you Ellen. I have lots of big plans but we'll see how much actually gets done. Like I should be in the sewing room now instead of on the computer!

Well, as of today, I realized that my best friends little girl (4 yr old) will be having a birthday party the 1st weekend in Dec., soooo I now have to come up with something adorable to make for her. I love to sew for her, she loves everything pink and frilly, but I am already behind on Christmas stuff... Any great 4 year old girl ideas?????

I love those lace ornament covers... I have never made any, but they look so pretty. Do they take lots of time and thread to make?

I would like to give my mail man a good swift kick in the rump. Would you believe that we have actually had 4 and 5 days go by when he wont even stop at the box. Then on the 6th day, we have so much he hangs it on the front of the box in a plastic walmart bag. I ordered larger portraits of my little one and the mail man folded the envelope, clearly marked PHOTOS do not bend, and stuck it into the box. We have complained and they say he is the only person who will take our route, so they do nothing about him.
Now, I do agree with you on the teachers, hairdressers, even dentist.
Speaking of gifts for people like that... anyone have any ideas for small but thoughtful gifts you can make for the Dr. who delivers your baby? I have been wondering if I should give him and his staff some small things, being that I am seeing them so much during the holidays and they take such good care of me.

SEW SORRY to hear about your mailservice.
We have a GREAT MAIL LADY... She drops off the bigger stuff in my garage on my business shelf! Never in a rush!
Maybe you should come to MICHIGAN!

I won't have much time to make many Christmas gifts this year. We are leaving for Nashville next Sat. for 5 days. That is when I am off from school and that is when I usually do a lot of Christmas projects.
I have already made my grandbabies a couple of things to wear, and I would like to do more if time permits. Everyone else has to take a "backseat" when it comes to those babies.;)
I usually do a few dish towels to have on hand, and I am doing a few for a friend who had to redo her whole house after Katrina. She just got moved back in a few weeks ago.

I am working on FSL bowls, dish towels, bath sheets, tote bags, throws, aprons and pillows. Do you think that is enough?
I am in the process of making monogramed mugs for sons school teachers.
Don't have a clue what else I will come up with...

I know! For the past several years I have had that problem! My H likes to plan all my time for me, and he just can't understand how important this is to me, so most of my plans have remained in my head or only gotten barely started since I married him. grrr

Every year I say I'm gonna start in January and take one family a month and get their presents out of the way. I figure that way I would have the last 3 months to play....Well, I've yet to start that!! I am the worlds biggest procrastinator!!! I have so many orders to fill right now that I don't even want to start on them, let alone my Christmas list!!!

I love reading through threads like this one. It's helpful when your imagination just can't think of one more gift! Thanks!

I did this 2 years ago with my son's class and I swore I would never do it again. I was up until 3 am the night before getting them done, but it was so worth it. All of the kids loved that their name was on them.

I have one that will be 4 in January. Love her to death, but sometimes I am confident that I will not survive her toddler/preschool years. I need more than "some" help. I don't remember my sons being this difficult

I am embroidering towel sets for my mil, golf towels for fil, microfiber carwash towels for fil, and hoodie sweatshirts for the little cousins. I have been gathering like a fiend lately, trying to get the hard stuff done first. It's coming along.

Hahahahaha! I don't have any boys but my friend has 3 and they make me nervous...they are so rough!
I made an apron for my sis with the Drama Queen Dolly Mama and red rick rack! Way to cute!
Towels, linen placemats, and hand towels are a must for quick Christmas gifts. I bought some chef hats, children aprons and oven mit/hot pad sets on the dollar rack at Target. I am going to put the kids names on them and that is what Mackenzie is giving her little friends. They love to play kitchen (plus my girls are getting a big wooden kitchen set from Santa!)
Any other quick ideas, especially for adults? I did monogrammed dish towels last year so I need another idea this year! (and cheap!!!)

I'm thinking about making embroidered wine bags for Christmas gifts. My single male cousin is very hard to shop for LOL but he likes wine!
well, lets see....I am doing a set for my stepdad of a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and long sleeve shirt all with a korean flag and his battalion information from whhen he was stationed in Korea. I am doing a sweatshirt each for my age 3 nephew, age 1 nephew, and 2 1/5 nieceall with their nicknames on them. I am doinga set of towels for my mil with a wide embroidered ribbon (matching her bathroom decor) sewn over the flat woven section on each of the towels. Then there are some items for the silent auction the court does for charity..I think I am going to embroider some household items. I am not sure yet.

My boyfriend requested a NFL Cowboy's winter hat. Well I searched in the mall today and would you believe they want $18 for a hat. That's crazy, so instead I bought a plain hat for $7 and I will embroider the logo on the hat. I hope to find a font that looks like their logo. That's all I have planned for handmade gifts this year.

I bought nice bath towels for my kids and my parents, so I'm going to be doing a lot of monogramming. I bought extras of some beautiful red hand towels, so I'm going to use the candy cane alphabet to do some cute towels as teacher/friend gifts.

What a great idea to use the candy cane font on the red hand towels. I might have to do that myself. Maybe for mom to give to my MIL.

I hear you on the mail carrier - I found out today my Entertainment Weekly magazine has been going to a friend around the corner - same street address, different street - I may get our mail carrier a membership in a literacy program! For real, tho, I'm making Bohemian serger quilts ( 10 fat quarters serged together for top, quick pieced back ang huge loopy free motion for quilting - quick and easy) for my family so they'll stop using My favorite quilt to snuggle under!
