This is a duplicate post...but I wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to see this.
I NEED some of these. If there is anyone out there interested in a group buy, I would be happy to organize it.
Please PM me if you would like 6 (or multiples of 6) travel tumblers @ $2.50 each plus actual tax/shipping costs. Deadline to respond: Monday, February 11. I will keep you all informed as to whether this is a "go" or not.
Thanks!

I would be very interested! But, I need to know how to do it. I know there is a template inside to use, but how do you close the ends together so it all looks blended in? How do you make it so it stands up on it's own?
I bought a couple the other day at Target to just mess with. Those were $10each! I would definitely love to buy them a lot cheaper.

I had thought I'd use a fairly stiff iron on interfacing behind the fabric I chose, probably before doing the embroidery.
As far as finishing the "loose ends" of the fabric, I hadn't come up with a plan other than running a seam up the back. I figured I'd use a scrap of broadcloth and the paper template and see what would work.
Maybe tflosses4u will help us out...she is the tumbler guru with her teacher gift post, and the one who started all this excitement!

What we did was made a template from the paper inside out of moderately stiff fusible interfacing(not too thick or when you go to insert the cup it bunches all up!)We then ironed the fabric to the interfacing ....After that we used the iron hem tape(drawing a blank on the actual name/term) for the raw edges..made it great so we didn't have to sew everything..Put our "insert" onto sticky stabilizer and stitched away... i can post pics of each step that we did if anyone is interested...

The blended in thing ...we never did actually make them into a complete "circle"..is that what you are meaning..? I never notice because we would always put the embroidery in the middle and that's what we/everyone was always looking at/seeing..
I even might be interested in some. I would like to see if they a different than the ones that we always order..

I may be interested. I think we all would like to know what size they are. Also, is there any way you can post a pic of the top of the tumbler?
Thank you!

You can also embroider on paper to go inside of these. I ordered something called kiwi paper to go in mine, but with all of the scrapbooking papers out there, I'm sure we can find some really beautiful patterned papers to work with. Oh the wheels are turning! I don't know how to link to another thread so I'm going to copy Jami's instructions for embroidering on paper below:
Embroidering on paper is one of my favorite things to do. I really like the creative aspect of combining embroidery and paper crafts. When stitching on paper the main thing you want to try to prevent is the paper from ripping in between the holes made by the needle.
Here are some tips which should help:
Use a high linen content paper.
Use a smaller size of needle. (smaller needle = smaller holes)
Loosen your thread tension a little to help keep the thread from tearing the paper.
Use stabilizer to help reinforce the paper.
Don’t forget to post pictures on the message board when you’re done. We would love to see them.

I grabbed the photo directly from the website, which was the only photo they had. I don't actually have one of these in my possession. Yet. If anyone else can help out here, please do.
Here is a link to the website: www.bizmug.com (then search for digital plastic tumbler under the plastic mugs heading)
Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the info. I visited the site and I see that they have listed the actual dimensions but not the volume. Sooooo, I did a search and found the same tumbler at another site and a higher price, but I did find out that they are 16oz.

One more time...
I'm hearing that not everyone received the group buy email. I double checked, and the message was sent. DD suggested checking bulk folders and adding my email address to your contacts, at least temporarily.
Please PM me if you did not receive the email with $ totals due and I'll resend it
Thanks, everyone!

Just popping in to let you know that one member who is unconfirmed has not been back to the forum since 2/12 and she's only made one post ever on the message board. I wonder if you might want to offer hers to others that maybe didn't get in on this group buy and would want to split up the amount she had ordered?? It might help you recoup the cost on the purchase.

If you can't find anyone, I will take 6 more. Let me know. It is not a big deal, if someone else is wanting them. I'll go ahead and pay tonight if need be.

I'm organizing the group buy and have your wishes noted in my database. I had asked for monies by tomorrow from original participants, so if there are extras I'll know by then and will plug you in (in the order of responses above - Sew So Happy, 6 ; StitchinGrandma, 4; Sew 'N Sane, 8). I'm glad you're interested (and I'm sorry you weren't aware earlier :( ) Can't wait to play with these and see what develops!

I knew of the group buy and wasn't sure of me wanting to get into it before. Secretly I almost knew someone might not get those they asked for anyway and then I could jump in and get a few so that you aren't stuck with more than you wanted. ;)

What a timely question :) The travel cups are here, repackaged, and ready to be shipped. I hope you'll be seeing some show and tell projects before too long. I think they're going to be great fun, and I'm looking forward to spring break (2 weeks...I think I can make it!!) when I'll have tons of time to catch up on projects. And have fun with the grandkids :D

I'd be happy to share my thoughts, Artsiegirl! This was my first ever experience with a group buy, although Heather has participated in many and was full of helpful insights. I learned a lot, and I would sstructure things a bit differently if I were to do it again. It was great fun communicating with all the participants, and the actual recordkeeping, sorting, packing, and shipping wasn't so bad. I do have to say, though, I still have one box here, so it's not over yet. I would consider doing another one, although not next week ;)

By the way, I saw earlier there was a post asking if anyone wanted to see a step by step. I would love to see a step by step with pictures. Did I miss it?

How are the quality of the mugs? Are they the kind you can open and close or is there just a hole that is open all the time?
