:hello: Hi Everyone, I'm okay.* It missed me and Betty but it did a lot of damage about 3/4 of a mile from us, it actually jumped over us and hit Cocoa Beach area the worst.* Thanks for all of the prayers and concerns, it was somewhat a fright but all are okay.* I was actually painting my guest bedroom until the power went off and it was too dark to see if I had good coverage and Phil was cleaning the attrium, guess we were held in prayers.* Again Thanks, we are okay, just very busy with company coming tomorrow. oh, by the way Would all of you wonderful addicts be my Valentines?

Windwillow, I'm so glad you're okay! I was worried for you yesterday, but I panicked this morning when I first logged on and you weren't there with me! I think we're the two early risers on the east coast, and I always look for your name online. Know that you're missed if you're not here!:)

So very glad to hear that you are okay. I was on my break at work and they had the weather on tracking the storm. Windwillow and I live about an hour from each other. We hope to meet someday. I was up late last night and they were talking like another tornado hit around Ponce Inlet (just south of Daytona), but I'm not seeing anything about it on the news this morning. They're saying even more severe weather this afternoon.

Windwillow - Do you have one those weather alert radios? We haven't gotten on yet, but I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I think we need it more for the tornados than the hurricanes. I've been here 2 years and haven't seen a hurricane yet. But there have been several tornados, one only being a few miles from us. Pretty scary stuff.

Rosebud314, glad to hear you're okay as well! We just recently purchased one of the weather radios, and I think it's wise to have one living in the south especially.

Windwillow-
glad to hear you are ok. We had tornados touch down last night about 5 miles from here. Not much damage. Hope all is ok in your surrounding areas.

You guys are so great, it touches my heart so special.* Thanks for all the kind and dear thoughts. No I don't have one of the weather radios but it is very high on the list "TO BUY".* I've been through several hurricanes and they are not fun, we usually evacuate because of being on an island with rivers on both sides and it is less than 1/2 mile wide, then Cocoa Beach is even narrower than us, so not much protection.* We don't worry about the wind as much as the water, we are at least 6 feet above low flood stage. My internet was down early this morning because of cable outages (I have wireless cable internet).* I have heard that just about everyone has power back now, so I guess we are ready for the next bout of weather. Thanks for such a wonderful internet family, I am so greatful for all of you and all your prayers....

Wow! I'm glad you are ok. That was very close to you. How scary. What's funny/strange is that we don't hear much about tornadoes in FL and you guys are talking like the happen all the time down there. I've heard of the water funnels and how they are a common occurence but rarely hit land at which time they are called tornados but the things I've heard is that they rarely hit land down there. Are they that common down that way then?

you don't hear of them that often this far south. it just so happens that the line of storms crossed with another front and came right across the area last nite. I fell asleep with the news on and woke up to the newscaster telling us to get into an interior room. not used to being woken up like that. that must explain me being tired today. (not enough beauty sleep). But you are right, tornadoes are very uncommon.

I've been here for 2 years and there have been 3 outbreaks of tornados in Central Florida. One was Christmas day of 2006, the February 2007 (both of these were within 5 miles of where I live) and this one yesterday, which was a bit farther away from me.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We moved down here to get away from the cold and the snow. I knew I'd have to worry about hurricanes but I didn't know I'd have to deal with wild fires and tornados.  Oh well, life is never boring

I'm not sure the trade off of no snow is worth the hurricanes and wild fires, much less tornadoes. Nope. Must research a new place to go live away from the snow. I don't wanna come there. LOL

My hubby loves it here, so I'm stuck.  Actually, it's really not that bad. The warm winters make it all worth it.

I agree!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the weather here. It's nice to go outside in the winter wearing a pair of shorts, shirt and sandles. I don't think I have enough closet space for "seasonal clothes"
