Ok... I am getting alot of Sewing/Embroidery done when it snows alot. LOL
Just had to share what I did today!
I made a Curtain for my Sewing Room. This is one of those ugly basement window with piece of foam to keep the cold out! But I hid it! Do you like?
The Fabric has Pincusions on them. Had this fabric for a year and finally getting around to finishing it and putting it up!
Also a saying I made with my Cricut machine. If anyone here scrapbooks its the latest, greatest, die cutting machine. The Vinyl lettering is kinda like Wall Words product. www.wallwords.com.
I bought the vinyl at Lowes for 9.95 and got 5 sheets. This is removable/movable and the Wallwords.com is not, when you want to repaint anything you have to order the saying again. This is sooooooooo much cheaper I had to get the machine! (Jami can you relate?)
I think I made the letters 3" and I think they are alittle to big. Maybe not.
I think the saying fits a CRAFT/SEWING ROOM !!!:D

How adorable! I bought the Cricut last school year because of course I needed it for my bulletin boards and other art displays!;) I love using it, but I've never cut vinyl with it before. What a neat idea! I don't think the letters are too big for that wall.

No, no, no, it is perfect! I like the idea of pincushion curtains in a sewing room. Whenever I move to the basement, I won't have any windows, not that I have any here in this room either. I love the phrase you put on the wall.
I saw the Cricut machine on a infomercial a couple of months ago. I would really have to come up with a lot of things to do with it in order to justify myself buying it. What are some simple everyday things you could do with it? What kind of supplies and accessories do need with it?

I think it's great! And I can relate to the creative and not neat thing. I try to be neat but fail mostly.

Don't buy it from the Infomercial... I bought mine through ACMoore.com
It was 319.00 and it came with extra Carts. 4 carts and a set of markers.
This was the cheapest I found... for the expressions. This is the bigger one.
I saved my $$$$ check out the website under comminity and they post everyones ideas!
Let me know if you get one! Artisegirl has one too maybe she can give us more ideas to use with it! I also scrapbook and it will come in handy and my girls love it too! My girls are decorating their rooms and know is will come in handy when I do my Senior's Open house this spring!

I really just use mine to decorate my bulletin boards and art display walls at school. I have made a couple of scrapbook pages with it (even though I don't scrapbook very much, this made it much easier.) I've seen the infomercials also, and they really seem to come up with some neat things to make with it. I really feel kind of guilty for not using it more. I don't have the larger one...I can't remember how much mine was, but it wasn't as much as what they show on tv. I purchased mine at Wal-Mart sometime last year.
Need some more info about the removable vinyl stuff. What kind of vinyl is removeable/movable??? My son is getting married and my future dil is decorating the kitchen in popsicles. Can't find anything with popsicles on it and we were going to make some cutouts, but did not want to ruin the newly-remodeled kitchen wallls.
Thanks.

You're saying, "I'M CREATIVE NOT NEAT!" suits me to a tee! I think that's the reason I slacked off on my embroidery endeavors for a while....my sewing room has gotten overwhelmingly chaotic.
Any tips?

Sorry...I'm as messy as anyone so I can't offer too much advice. However, we do have an organizational thread going to help all of us clean one section of our embroidery lives at the time. So far you've only missed organizing the thread and holiday designs, so it should be easy to catch up. Check out Embroidery Addicts forum, and then the Mission Organization threads.
And by the way...WELCOME!!!!!!:p

I'm too busy to be real neat, :dito: my mind is so busy with new ideas I sometimes forget to put away before I start another project (usually at least three projects going at one time) soewwwww, last night about 6:30 I decided I needed to re-arrange my sewing room. I finally opened the whole big Koala outback III, including the backside so I could take out the desk and use that side for one. Not a lot of walking space but lots and lots of effecient work space. My husband gave me the TV/DVD/CD combo out of the RV, we have never used since we bought the TV five months ago, so now I can watch my tutorials and follow along on my computer. I even left a place to mount it to the wall. I re-organized my threads, scissors, and fabric, it feels so much better. Now I feel like I can tackle some of the UFO's around here (like my son's quilt).
So "A little clutter is good for the soul!"...Just a little.

Dawn That really turned out cute. I like the lettering. Big and readable letters are good. I wish after all the work I did painting those sayings on my sewing room wall trim that I'd have used a different font, or at least made them larger myself.

Thanks for the organization thread tip! I can see that I this is going to impact my life in more ways than I thought. I can already feel the embroidery "sisterhood". I need this motivation or I get the tendency to pretend it's not there & move on to another task. I just need to tackle my sewing room one area at a time.
My sewing room has turned into the birthday party supply storage room also, and for JuJu's 2nd b'day we had a Luau-which was off the charts, if I do say so myself. Birthdays are for throwing a fun party once a year where all our family & friends come to celebrate.

Dawn, Thought you might like to see my scissor wall. Decided to put all my scissors except paper and upholstery. There are five more that are mingled in on the thread wall. The other pic is my fairy world.

I love your curtain and the letters are just right. I'd love to have them in my room, too. I can't ever keep anything neat. Just spent the day cleaning up my sewing room. I figure it'll stay clean maybe until.....tomorrow :D
I also had some questions about the Cri-Cut. Do you think they should stand up to school use? We have about 25 teachers. We don't have an accu-cut, etc., so I think it would be nice for us to have something. Wasn't sure how it would hold up in the long run.
Thanks for any info,

Toni, I'm not sure how your teachers manage electrical/technical equipment in your school, but I can tell you about those of us in my school. We constantly tear up the copiers, laminators, and computers. Of course many times it's just a paper jam in the copier, not allowing the laminator to heat up, and even forgetting to plug the monitors in on the computer...and yet, these educated people cannot seem to slow down long enough to handle things carefully. I love my cricut, but I really don't share it with other teachers. For one thing, the blades become dull quickly and the sticky cutting mats lose their stickiness over time. It would probably be too expensive to replace these very often. However, we have Ellison Die Cuts at school, and I can only imagine how much that machine costs. So I'll just leave that info out there for you to decide. It really is a wonderful machine!

Wow, you are scissor-heavy My Friend! That's awesome. The peg board really is great for holding scissors. I have one in my sewing room that I have a long straight rod that goes into the peg board that I use to hang outfits that I'm working on.
I can relate to having at least 3 or more projects going at once. I ended up labeling one of my bins "Projects-Not Complete".

That's me too!!! I'd much rather play and sew then clean. Although that does create a bit of a problem when it comes to my allergies... dust bunnies beware. So not much sewing happeningright now with everything turning green outside.

Cynelle, (DUST BUNNIES), that's a no no, we all try to avoid those little things that seem to follow us.* My DH and I have 2 long haired dogs (Love them) but they shed like you would believe, a constant pick up and anyone who comes to my house is told in advance about the little critters (and I not talking about the dogs). Even my maid (2x a week) hates them and cannot stay ahead of them. She always ask if I am raising a herd of them on purpose.* The thing is I have all my windows open this time of year so it makes them terrible.* They are almost as bad as the baby Osprey that flew over my head and decided to let go.* :vollkommenauf: Now that was a awful experience (normally I love the family that lives in my big oak out front) but when I came in to wash it off my face, hair, arms and change:bath: ...my husband had the :hahaha: best laugh in a long time.

That's hysterical Windwillow! I laugh beacuase I've been there!:o DH and I went for a romantic early evening walk down the beach at St Augustine a couple of year ago. Little did we know that some of those beach birds were nesting high up on the shore (why should we read those signs posted everywhere warning tourists about the nesting?!! ) Anyway, the walk ended very unromantically with Dh laughing his head off:hahaha: and me racing back to the condo with an angry mama bird hot in pursuit!:vroam: She aimed for me head, but I think I was running a bit too fast for her and all she got was my arm!:motz: I've learned my lesson...no more romantic walks on the beach at sundown!:p

that saying has got me nailed. You should see the floor of my sewing room. Hey, I'm being creative no time to worry with being neat an organized. I feel that as long as I can find it, I'm okay. My daughter has talk about the cutting machine you mentioned and I saw one at Walmart. Girls you have got to stop giving me ideas. I am going to go broke. I am thinking a machine for me and one for my daughter at Christmas.

Hi I'm new here but feel right at home, my sweet DH thinks I'm the only one with a room like this, I'm glad to see I'm not alone.. Have you ever used the cricut to cut fabric besides vinyl?
