I've tried a few times to stitch designs on paper to make cards w/o much success. I always make a sample of my embroideries first on scrap fabric. Today I combined the two for a sweet combo I thought others could try. This way not much gets wasted and I can keep the "cut " embroideries in a place that I can search through before I set out to make a card. Hope this idea is useful. It snowed here today and I thought I'd make this card to send to my Mother-in-Law to think of the coming Summer.

OMG! I have looked at that design set and often wondered what I would do with that one design! You have helped me tremendously! I love that card with the snow in the background. It definitely makes somebody dream and dream big!:D

u sew a fabrics onto a paper? do u need any special fabrics or stabiliser or whatever when u sew them together? the other day i was reading this website and they have some stabilisers for paper embroidery. not sure if u have used that or its possible to save on that and sew directly. thanks

I haven't tried cards but I love the way you combined the cloth and the card. I think it adds dimension. Is there any hints you can give me before I attempt paper?

Great idea. Ihave not tried stiching designs on paper but I love to make fabric notecards.

I have tried stitched designs on paper but have come up with nothing but frustration, no matter how simple the design was that i choose there always seemed to be a spot that had too many stitches and created a hole. I know there's a way to lessen the amount of stitches but I'm really a "lazy" sewer. If i can't get a finished project that i'm happy with quickly i often give-up.
SO - that's why i started sewing the embroidery on the fabric, cutting the fabric and then placing just the fabric on the paper. you can get away with using a simple straight stitch or something a bit more fancy like the blanket stitch. it's VERY simple~ sew slowly the first few times and don't backstitch. I usually pull the threads through to the wrong side and tie a knot. thanks.

I'll have to keep this in mind for my test stitches.

I have been doing them on fleece with plans to put them in the drinking cups....or to apply them like a patch to a tote.

What a wonderful idea. I have not been on this site for awhile, nor have I been embroidering for awhile. When I was, I put my samples on a dish towel. Your idea is much better, at least you can use it again. Cute design. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is a great idea! I have had about as much luck as you with the paper thing. I guess I just don't have the knack!

I love the idea of putting the samples on cards! I am always running to the store for cards. Last week I bought a box of "organized" cards at Costco with the divders for the types of cards. When I run out of the cards that came with the box, I'm going to mount my samples on blank card stock and store mine there as well.

It will keep them together, and dust free (you'd understand if you saw my sewing room. LOL)!

I use all my test stitchouts and put them together to make little quilts. I hold on to them till I have enough of one theme and then put them together and quilt. I always have a little baby quilt ready for a quick shower gift.
