A friend of mine asked if I'd be able to embroider on Horton's ears. He's currently selling at Kohl's for $5 as does his hardcover book companion, Horton Hatches an Egg.
The ears were thin enough, for sure, but I wasn't sure if I could get him pinned down to hooped stabilizer. I asked her if she wanted me to try and she said that if it didn't work, she'd go back and get another one- to go for it.
I'm glad she did:

Heather, that is too cute! I saw those elephants at Kohl's and thought they were adorable. What a unique way to personalize it for someone.

Oooh how cute! Who would've ever thought you could embroider so well on fuzzy elephant ears?

This is even cuter than I'd pictured it when you described it! We have some students going to see Horton at the local theater in the near future...hmmm...or how about snugglies for Seussical the Musical?? So what other Seussical characters were at Kohls? ;)

This is absolutely adorable!!! My kids are dying to see Horton Hears a Whoo this weekend. I never go to Khol's anymore, but it sounds like they always have "Deals & Steals"! Great job on this, Heather!

That is so cute!! It must of been difficult to get his ears hooped. Any tips?

I didn't actually hoop the ears- I used a medium weight cut-away and sprayed temporary adhesive spray and then pinned the ears down. I also used a little tulle to help keep the fuzz from overpowering the text. HTH!

That turned out so cute. We still haven't see the movie yet...I hope we get the chance before it leaves the theater.

Thanks again, everyone!

Oh, believe me, I was scared. But the Mom I was doing it for insisted I try (as long as I didn't think it'd harm the machine, which I figured I was safe with...). She said she'd go grab another one if it didn't work. Thankfully, it did work.
