Default Fun with tea towels

Lately I have been playing around with embellishing tea towels. I am working on a set which I thought I'd show you all for inspiration. I plan to add an embroidery design of a steaming set of coffee cups but it is not from this site so I thought I'd post a photo before I do the embroidery.

I also have an ulterior motive in showing you this --- I'm wondering if anyone else is playing with tea towels because I'm looking for inspiration. I have now done a few sets like this one with the frill but unfortunately they are at my cottage and I did not take photos. I have done others with ribbon and monograms for friends and they love them.

But I'm wondering what have all you creative people done with yours??

Susan, They are very cute, I'm sure all of your friends want a set. You alway do always do such a good job with everything you make. I embroider tea towels but I have never done a cute ruffle on the bottom before. Great job, thanks for sharing! Jo

Those are wonderful, Susan. I wonder if you were to do a search on Etsy for tea towels if there might be some inspiration there? Just a thought. Great job, though!!

Thanks Jo and Jami. Glad you like them. You know I did look on Etsy but I did not really find much - lots of embroidery but not any add ons. I guess I am thinking of something truly different. I thought our talented bunch would have some thoughts.

Hopefully someone with a few grand ideas will chime in. I'll keep my eyes open as well.

Alright, so I just spent some time looking through quite a few places for tea towel ideas and yours is by far the best I saw. Maybe you are on to something?!?!

Maybe!

I went to a large "Originals" craft show yesterday and saw a few tea towels for sale but they were actually kind of boring and they were $18 - $20 each. They were either screen printed or plain towels with a topper to hang them up. I wonder if they sell?

I just like to have something pretty because my tea towels are out at the cottage. Next time I go up I'll take a picture of the Christmas ones I did because I used a tree from the Christmas Dreams set - it is really pretty.

Absolutely LOVE these! Did you just buy the towels and do the add ons?

Yep - I just bought the towels. I have looked on line for towel fabric to make them and have not found much --- and --- what I have found works out more expensive than buying the towels.

I seem to be in a towel mood this week - here are a couple more. Again, this is pre-embroidery.

I saw this last night and had a reply back with links to online stores selling the toweling or towels but after hitting submit reply it died and errored out. I didn't have the energy to redo the post so remind me and I'll do that over again later tonight Susan. I've been collecting links to stores online that sell the toweling by the yard for a few years now. I usually buy my dish towels at IKEA and really love them but they aren't super big towels and one brand they sell shrink up horribly. Because of that I can only buy one brand from there.

OK Susan ~ Let's try this again. I have only purchased from the top site so I can't necessarily vouch for the others. I did see a few of the others mentioned on different groups saying they had good luck from them.

http://www.quilterstudio.com/teatowe...ter_layout.htm

Scroll down the page for them here http://www.habermanfabrics.com/scart...se___Other.htm

Quite a few pages here plus look above for a few other categories

Putting this one on the list because they used to have toweling by the yard. Unsure if they stopped carrying it or just have no stock right now. But, they have adorable fabrics anyway so I figured it's still worth checking. http://www.rubyjane.com/Index.html

I think that's it but if I find more in my bookmarks I'll let you know.
