A simple accordion book becomes a keepsake for a special friend when embellished with pretty embroideries and in inspirational quote.

Supplies

• Seven sheets of cardstock in coordinating colors (choose two the same color for the base) • 2 Sheets of patterned paper to coordinate with card stock • Vellum
• Medium-weight tear-away stabilizer
• 28” of ½”-wide sheer ribbon in two coordinating colors; 6” of ¼ “-wide sheer ribbon
• 28” of loop trim in coordinating color
• 16” of lightweight cording in coordinating color
• Embroidery and Bobbin thread
• Temporary spray adhesive
• 1/8”=diameter silver brad
• Beading needle and thread
• Spiral paper clip
• Tin foil
• Double-stick foam tape
• Watercolor paints and brush
• Embroidery designs of your choice: one no larger than 2”, two no larger than 1 ¾ “, three no larger then 1 ¼“ (two outline) and one outline no larger than ¾”
• Permanent paper adhesive

Construction

• Begin with two 8 ½” squares of card stock and follow the diagram in figure A to construct and fold the base.

• Using a sheet of card stock and watercolor paints, paint as desired for use with the outline designs. Let dry.

• Cut six 4” squares from card stock; cutting five from the watercolor sheet.

• Hoop tear-away stabilizer, spray with temporary adhesive and adhere a square of painted card stock. Embroider the 2” –diameter design. Trim the stabilizer.

• Re-hoop and embroider a 1” design slightly to one side of the center. Repeat on three more squares. Cut the squares on the diagonal to create eight triangles.

• Re-hoop, turn a square of card stock on point and embroider a 1 ¾” – diameter design.

• Use a full sheet of card stock and a word processing program to print a greeting around the edge fo a 4” square. Trim to the edge of the greeting to create a seventh 4” square. Re-hoop and turn the square o point; embroider a 1 ¾” design.
